Assistant Controller | Longview

Job scope: Assist the Controller in the daily operations of the Business office in the areas of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking and audits.  Supervise non-exempt staff. Assists in identifying internal controls and recommending changes in procedures in order to comply with state and federal requirements and with established business practices.  Prepare monthly ageing reports on receivables and grant balances for Executive Management.  Assist with preparation of audits.  Work to identify and reconcile inaccuracies or imbalances on a monthly basis.  Preparation of grant reporting and cost reporting as assigned.  Works under the direction of the Controller with latitude for independent judgment. 

Education/licensure:  Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited university or college. Current valid driver's license in state of residence.

Experience/Knowledge:  Must have a working knowledge of all business Office functions, including payroll, purchasing, accounts payable and accounts receivable.  Supervisory experience preferred.  Must have thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.  Previous experience with federal and state grant/contracts administration preferred.

Previous experience in MH/IDD/SUD, health care or governmental agency preferred.

Must

have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work

cooperatively with others.  Proficiency

in the use of various computer application is required along with careful

attention to detail and accuracy in all responsibilities.  Ability to work independently and to

prioritize tasks is essential.
