Caseworker III | Longview, TX

Job Scope:

Delivery of skills based training services in an outpatient setting, youth ages 0-17 and their families. Caseworker (Family Support Specialist) will provide referral, screening, intake, outreach, counseling, skills-based training, development of individual action plan, advocacy training, and crisis intervention in individual, family and group settings. Caseworker will provide screening and intake for youth admitted to residential youth shelter services, and as needed, will provide services listed above after discharge. Adjunctive services include collaboration with other providers/agencies. Caseworker will use the following skills: applies and teaches effective counseling skills inclusive of those utilizing behavioral management techniques based upon family systems theory. Caseworker participates in on-call rotation of night/week-end/holiday coverage to insure crisis intervention/shelter care is available. Caseworker will possess technical skills as described in the Core Competency Inventory. Elements of job scope performed in a manner that articulates the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Education/licensure:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (preferred in the Human Services field), or an additional year of experience working with at-risk youth and families for each year of college (30 credit hours) needed to secure a bachelor's degree.  Current valid Texas driver's license.

Experience/Knowledge:

One year experience working with at-risk youth and families (in addition to the degree). Must demonstrate knowledge and applied competency in use of counseling techniques and experience in the use of behavior management models. Must be able to demonstrate good oral and written communication. 

Physical requirements:

Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job: Mobility, ability, and stamina to sit, bend, and reach during an 8-10 hour workday. Able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds. Sensory acuity sufficient to evaluate, treat, and monitor client needs and maintain accurate records. Fine motor skills sufficient to legibly document and communicate. Routine 8-10 hour shifts with weekends off.  Will serve on call for one week approximately every two months.

SALARY: $41,600 ANNUALLY
