Job Scope: A LOSS Team is made up of trained suicide loss survivors, and sometimes other concerned community members, that provide support to individuals and families who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide. As a LOSS Team member, you will play a critical role in offering comfort, resources, and a listening ear to survivors, helping them navigate the difficult early moments of their grief journey.
Possible Tasks:
- Respond as part of a team to recent suicide losses, in collaboration with local organizations, authorities, and/or first responders.
- Provide compassionate support to survivors, offering emotional care and connection.
- Share information about available resources for grief support and mental health services.
- Write and package cards to loss survivors around holidays, birthdays, etc.
- Asist with resource identification and vetting.
- Package resource care packages that are provided to the newly bereaved.
- Serve as a bridge to ongoing support services for survivors in the community.
Training Provided: All volunteers will receive training on suicide prevention, crisis response, and providing support to survivors. No prior experience in crisis intervention is required - just a willingness to learn and serve others in their time of need.
