Outreach Coordinator

Job scope: 

This Outreach Coordinator position is the focal person providing Information and Referral (I&R) to callers and walk-ins for the 14-county service area. I&R services include: 1) excellent customer service; 2) linkage to appropriate long-term services and supports; 3) linkage to other local community resources; 4) concurrent data entry into the tracking system; 5) completion of Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) screen, as prequired; 6) maintain/update regional resource database; and 7) assist persons with Your Texas Benefits portal through the Community Partners Program.

This position will work in conjunction with the other Outreach Coordinator to ensure that the East Texas ADRC meets it's obligations to the community, as outlined in the Statement of Work. This position will assist in attending the numerous outreach events that occur within the 14-county service area. As the I&R focal person, this position must have excellent phone etiquette skills. The position will assist with other duties, as assigned.

TheTBRA Coordinator shall implement the HOME Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program (TBRA program) utilizing the HUD Housing Choice Voucher Method, as well as being the liaison with Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) HOME TBRA Program; develop content expertise in effective utilization of the TBRA Reservation System; determine rental unit eligibility and completing annual Housing Quality Standards inspections; develop client eligibility guidelines; and, assist in writing the program operational procedures. Coordinator shall assist the Business Office in submitting required reports and financial information to TDHCA; outreach and engage landlords to support their continued participation in the HOME program.

Education/licensure: High School diploma with 2 years' experience with community engagement/outreach activities is required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Strong public speaking skills required.

Current valid driver's license in state of residence.

Experience/Knowledge: Working knowledge of office organization and management, business English, computer word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheet and database software. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees, community members, and the public. Preference in the Human Service field.

Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job: Ability to operate office equipment, use a computer, operate a motor vehicle, and ability to sit for more than two (2) hours. Ability to hear, read, count, see, write, communicate verbally, and the ability to move about in most environments.
