Medical Assistant | Grapeland, TX

Job scope:

The medical assistant position is a key position with Core Health Systems. This position performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. This position will assist, as needed, at other Core Health Systems locations. In addition to administrative duties, this position will perform clinical duties in accordance to state law, competency, and education. The clinical duties will include, but not limited, to taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the provider during examinations.

Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Ability to complete an office clinical/medical assistant competency training OR  graduate of a Medical Assistant program

Certification: Current certification by Medical Assistant certifying organization or ability to obtain within 1 year

Position requirements: Able to read and write consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position. Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills. Understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities will include providing high-quality clinical care, participating in community-based initiatives, promoting available healthcare services, and helping identify opportunities to improve access to care and community engagement.

Candidates should have strong clinical, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills and enjoy working both in a patient-care setting and within the community.
