Mental Health Specialist/Transport (PRN) | Longivew

Job scope:

The Transportation MHS will transport people as requested to the Crisis Stabilization Unit in Atlanta, Texas in addition to inpatient psychiatric facilities outside of the Crisis Stabilization Unit.  The Mental Health Specialist is part of a multidisciplinary team and will work cooperatively with other members of the team to provide services to designated individuals.  As assigned, MH Specialist will assist in the admission process including performing inventory of personal property and orienting people to the unit, assist in performance of activities of daily living as indicated, monitor behavior in the facility, obtain vital signs, assist with meals, assist with linen service and complete related documentation.  Transporting people to their homes or other locations, picking up meals and picking up medications from pharmacies may also be required. Conducts inventory of unit supplies as indicated. Files chart documents as necessary Completes required vehicle inspection forms and enters data into vehicle logs.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/licensure:

Current valid driver's license in state of residence.  Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent.

Experience/Knowledge:

The Transportation Mental Health Specialist provides transport services to individuals requiring inpatient psychiatric services.  Functions as a team member and actively participates in improvement activities.  Knowledge of Crisis Stabilization programs and behaviors of individuals requiring psychiatric inpatient services with one year experience preferred. 

Physical Requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job: Position requires various activities involving visual, auditory, motor skills to communicate; attend meetings/trainings, carrying charts and assisting with patients (up to 50 lbs.), Must have stamina for long days and able to work under hazardous conditions due to potentially aggressive consumers.  Must be physically able to complete Satoria Alternative to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, and First Aid. 

MINIMUM HIRING SALARY PER HOUR: $16.00
