The Mental Health Specialist is part of a disciplinary team and will work cooperatively with other members of the team to provide services to designated clients on the Crisis Residential, Extended Observation and Crisis Stabilization Units. As assigned, MH Specialists will assist in the admission process including performing inventory on client property and orienting clients to the unit, assist clients in performance of their activities of daily living, monitor clients' behavior in the facility, obtains client vital signs, assist with meals, assist with linen service and complete related documentation. Transporting clients to their homes or other locations, picking up meals and picking up medications from pharmacies may also be required. Conducts inventory of unit supplies. Files chart documents as necessary. May be required to float to other Regional Crisis Response Units.
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent. Current valid driver's license in state of residence.
Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job: Moderate lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 50 pounds. Sitting for prolonged periods, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching above shoulder height. Motor skills necessary to operate essential office equipment. Physical ability to perform Handle With Care, CPR, and First Aid. Ability to read and visual acuity to decipher printed information at 8 lines per inch. Work site is inside but may be required to assist with other duties. Required to attend training.
