Facilities Maintenance Worker | Longview

Job scope:  

This position helps people achieve dignity, independence and their dreams by providing facility maintenance support including maintaining, repair and evaluating the safety of facilities to meet current federal, state and local standards.  Works with the Organization Improvement Team to identify areas for improvement.

Performs skilled work in one or more maintenance and building construction trades.  Work involves maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, and motorized equipment; requisitioning material and supplies; and keeping records.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Education/licensure:  High school diploma or equivalentVocational or trade school training preferred.  

Current valid driver's license in state of residence.

Experience/Knowledge:  4 years' experience of a varied nature in repair and installation.  Working knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing and heating systems, sanitation, refrigeration, electric systems, and fire and safety regulations.

Skilled in the use of tools and equipment.  Ability to work from simple drawings or sketches, follow oral or written instructions, and work with others.  Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.

Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job:  Reaching, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, kneeling, crouching, crawling, travel.  Physical stamina to work in inclement weather and sufficient equilibrium to work on ladders, scaffolding or roofs.

MINIMUM HIRING SALARY PER HOUR: $20.70
