IDD Direct Care Service Provider | Longview

Job scope:
Kind, respectful and courteous at all times to residents, family members, Center staff and the public.  Helps individuals achieve dignity, independence and their dreams by modeling and teaching life skills in a residential setting. Aware of program rules and regulations. Serves as member of treatment team to assure that individuals' active treatment goals and objectives are implemented as agreed upon by Interdisciplinary Team.  Plans include comprehensive medical and therapy services and skill development programs. Responsible for the safe and clean environment of care, including the cleanliness and safe operation of vehicles. Provides transportation and recreational activities for individuals.

Education/licensure: 

High school diploma or GED.  Must complete employee orientation/training. Current valid driver's license in state of residence and driving record that qualifies for insurance when driving center owned/operated vehicles.  Must have appropriate liability coverage on personal vehicles used for Center business as required by State of Texas. Achieve full program tech certification within established schedule.

Experience/Knowledge: 

Ability to accept supervision, to communicate effectively orally and in writing, to work cooperatively and effectively with residents, family members and staff to establish positive relationships through knowledge of policies and procedures of the program.

Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job : 

Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8 to 12 hour shift, able to lift a minimum of 30 to 40 pounds.  Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to monitor residents' needs and maintain accurate records. Must be physically able to complete Satori Alternative to Managing Aggressive Behavior (SAMA), CPR and First Aid. 

MINIMUM HIRING SALARY PER HOUR: $16.00
