Staff Psychiatrist | Longview

Job scope:  Serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing diagnostic and medication services to adult patients in MH Outpatient and Crisis Services.  Provides physician delegation oversite for mid-level prescribers.

Education/licensure: Doctor of medicine; Certification of residency in Psychiatry; Licensed to practice medicine in Texas issued by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners; Certificate for Texas Controlled Substances Registration issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety; Certificate for Controlled Substances Registration issued by the U. S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, Washington; and current valid driver's license in state of residence.

Experience/Knowledge: Familiar with current psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.  Competence in prescribing medications with knowledge of New Generation medications, side effects, and drug interactions.  Ability to enhance a positive team working relationships.

Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job: Ability and strength to sit, bend, and reach during an 8to 10 hour day.  Able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.  Sensory acuity sufficient to evaluate, treats, and monitors patient needs and maintains accurate records.  Fine motor skills sufficient to legibly document and communicate.  Routine 8to 10 hour shifts with weekends off.
